Support for Municipalities
A Climate to Thrive supports local municipalities in planning and preparing for the impacts of climate change. We recognize that many rural municipalities are already at-capacity and need support to consider climate action and resilience planning and implementation. We also recognize that many climate solutions, when implemented correctly, can bring substantial benefits to municipalities of all sizes. We serve to add capacity and support through providing essential information and connection to resources, including funding, for local municipalities to build resilience and thriving in the face of the climate challenge.
Example of municipal support:
ACTT is currently supporting the towns of Tremont and Mount Desert, funding by a Community Action Grant from the Maine Community Resilience Partnership, on a list of resilience and climate action projects. ACTT is also supporting the town of Mount Desert and Southwest Harbor on pre-development activities related to municipal solar.
ACTT’s support for municipalities includes:
Climate Action Planning and support for implementation. ACTT has supported local municipalities in the development of climate action or community resilience plans and in implementation of those plans. We prefer highly participatory planning and implementation processes, driven by community input to ensure that plans fully reflect local priorities and meet local challenges and opportunities.
Municipal solar planning, siting, and support through the interconnection process. ACTT has significant experience in considering responsible solar siting, identifying the most beneficial financial pathways to solar ownership, and a high level of knowledge regarding the interconnection process for municipal solar. We enjoy supporting municipalities through pre-development, contractor identification, and with solar interconnection and are happy to consider creative solutions to municipal solar ownership.
Enrollment in the State of Maine’s Community Resilience Partnership. ACTT has supported local communities as a Service Provider in the Maine Community Resilience Partnership (CRP). We assist municipalities in understanding the CRP, navigating the enrollment process, and writing grant applications to the partnership. General support in understanding and accessing resources. Over our seven years of work in community-driven climate solutions, we have developed a network of resources, including information, relationships, and awareness of funding resources and other available formal support programs. We are happy to help municipalities connect to resources and answer questions wherever possible.
