Local Leads the Way
Initiated in the fall of 2021, Local Leads the Way provides support to communities throughout the state of Maine who are engaged in community-driven, solutions-focused climate action.
Local Leads the Way hosts monthly meetings open to anyone involved in or contemplating community-driven climate action. Through these meetings, participants share resources, build networks of support, participate in trainings, collaborate, and reduce duplication of effort. Meetings typically take place the first Monday of each month at 4:00 p.m. We hope you will join us!
Email johannah@aclimatetothrive.org with any questions or to express interest in Local Leads the Way!
Next meeting: March 3 at 12:00 p.m.
March’s meeting is focused on the Maine State Legislative session, important bills and dates, and pathways to action
What is community-driven climate action?
We define community-driven climate action as solutions-focused action that prioritizes a high level of community involvement and leadership in both development and implementation. We believe, based on our experience, that solutions developed through this local, participatory process will be most effective and impactful and will best meet the needs of the community they are designed to serve. These actions prioritize community ownership of climate solutions and build community empowerment, engagement, and equity.
Thank you to the Elmina B. Sewall Foundation for their support of Local Leads the Way.
